Exercise Recovery Equipment-Relieve Those Sore Muscles

Receiving proper rest and recovery are EXTREMELY important. Many people think that exercising is where the real work takes place on the body; however, that’s quite the contrary. When you’re recovering, this is the time when your body truly feels the stress and effects of your training. This is mainly because any physical activity that you perform that’s strenuous on the body causes’ energy store depletion, the breakdown of muscle tissue, and fluid loss. This is why you may feel exhausted a day or two days after a hard workout.

Sleep and stretching are crucial factors that go into effectively recovering; nonetheless, there are other ways to enhance this process to alleviate your pain and soreness faster. As you can see from the title, there is fitness equipment that’s entirely dedicated to aiding in your recovery process. These are in no way vital to purchase but recommended, especially if you are an athlete, weight lift if you’re injured, and if your body has trouble rehabilitating on its own. Here’s a list of a few of my favorite recovery tools!

Trigger Point Therapy Grid X Foam Roller

Though this is seen as a regular foam roller, its quite popular within the fitness world and is considered one of the best rehabilitation and recovery products on the market, people are in love with this foam roller because it stimulates the feeling of a therapist massaging you. The Grid’s design and curved foam pattern make it highly durable and effective in increasing mobility, blood flow, releasing tight muscles and allows oxygenated blood to flow smoothly to repair broken tissue. It’s recommended to roll before your stretch or begin your workout as a result of it improving your whole body’s range of motion (especially your hips). This will allow you to move more freely within your exercises and will prevent injuries such as muscle strains. It’s also essential to use after working out.

Another plus is that it’s small enough to travel with yet big enough to roll out the bigger muscles like your glutes.

I have used this for my groin injury, and let me tell you that its one of the main reasons why I healed so fast. It made a significant difference in my hips range of motion, which allowed me to go back to performing my daily activities. Price: $34.95

If you want a deep tissue massage daily, I highly recommend purchasing a Theragun. It’s one of the best investments I’ve ever made. The Theragun operates by propelling vibrating pules throughout your muscles. Vibration therapy has been quite the talk lately due to the outstanding results people have been receiving. It’s highly effective in reducing muscle stress, tension, soreness, and even deep tissue abnormalities. Other benefits that the Theragun offers are that it increases lymphatic flow, increases blood flow improves your body’s awareness, reduces muscle stiffness, breaks up scar tissue, decreases the output of lactic acid, and of course, enhances a fast and efficient recovery! Price: $300-$600

Tennis Ball

I know it seems pretty random to put a tennis ball in a post about recovery equipment. However, many underestimate the complexity and benefits that simple products can bring to the body. If you have tightness in places that other products can’t reach, tennis balls are the perfect solution to fix that. Like a foam roller, a tennis ball can roll out and relieve targeted muscles. For example, one would use a tennis ball to roll out calves or tender muscles near the pubic bone. You get to have more control of what muscles you want to discharge. It’s incredibly cheap, can be purchased literally anywhere, and has the potential to bring you significant results.

Epson Salt

If you want a more relaxing approach, this is the product for you. Epson salt is used in hot relaxing baths to relieve tension and relax all the muscles in your body at once. Epson salt contains magnesium, which rids the body of toxins, reduces swelling, inflammation, pain, and stifles, Not only is it great for your physical health, but your mental health as well. Epson salt is also known to relieve stress and anxiety. Many researchers say that magnesium helps balance your mood by inducing the production of Serotonin (relaxation hormone) in the brain.

Chiropractic Multi-level Back Stretcher for lower back pain relief

Back stretchers are designed to stretch and relieve tension in your lower back by maintaining a position for about ten minutes. Usually, your other back muscles contract when stretching your spin, however, the stretcher does all the hard work for you so that your muscles can relax. It offers a deeper stretch, which will increase your circulation and lengthen your spine.

Foot Massage Roller

If you suffer from unbearable foot cramps, this foot massage roller will ease the pain right away. It works just like any foam roller, except its not foam, and it’s used explicitly for your foot. As you can see from the title, there are two modes. You can soak it in hot water beforehand to replicate a hot therapy session or put it in a freezer for a nice refreshing sensation.

Hyperice Viper 2.0 Vibration Roller

The Hyperice Viper 2.0 Vibration Roller brings on a whole new level compared to traditional foam rolling. The motor inside the roller creates the vibrations and contains three speeds. The waves ensure that the roller accommodates all of your myofascial muscular needs. According to the manufacturer, this product increases your range of motion by 40% compared to 18% on a traditional roller. This is because the vibrations allow for deeper tissue release, which loosens muscles much more and massively reduces soreness.

 Unilateral Prostrech

This product is excellent for all those runners out there that suffer from calf and ankle soreness or pain. And it only takes one step. Place your calf on the device and apply a little pressure. Unilateral Prostrech will then naturally stretch them out!

Massage Bar

It’s portable, small, and easy to use! All you need to do is glide this bar across your sore, tender muscles, and your body will naturally loosen up. Many massage bars include specialized rubber grooves, which allows for the smooth movement across your targeted areas. Most people use this on their calves and quadriceps. It offers a fast and easy recovery process, and you can bring this relatively anywhere!

Theraband Stretcher

A theraband stretcher designed for stretching and enhanced dynamic movement. It’s created with little elasticity and added loops to the band to hold your body parts in place. The minimum flexibility allows you to loosen your muscles to its full extent. Your hands hold the straps, and your foot is inserted into the loops. Your hands use the band to pull your leg muscles toward you, which creates a deep tissue stretch. This improved blood circulation, increases flexibility, allows for a greater range of motion, and enhances your rehabilitation process.

Time For Your Body To Relax

There are many more recovery devices; these are just a few of the favorites that have significantly helped me heal my injuries and enhance my recovery process. I hope that you can use this as a reference for when you are purchasing or researching fitness recovery equipment! If you have any questions, please leave them in the comment section below!

I’m glad I found your website! I suffer from many injuries and the one product that stood out to me was the theragun! I have friends that have it and they said it revolutionized their recovery process. I’ll definitely look into that and think about purchasing it! Thank you!

There are usually plenty of exercise equipment available to buy both online and in stores. But I have not seen many recovery equipment to relieve sore muscles advertised as much. I am glad I’ve landed on your website to learn more about the recovery equipment. I personally like the MVP recovery system. I think it’s really handy and practical as it could be used while you are relaxing/watching TV. I have used the epsom salt with great results. So I highly recommend both of these.

Many thanks for sharing your recommendations with us.

    Best Wishes

Thanks for the post! Wow, These options all look so simple yet so effective. I’m especially interested in the back stretcher and the foot/heel calf stretcher. These are my pain points. Any recommendations on the best place to purchase?
    Thanks so much,
    Jamie L.

No problem at all! I honestly think the best place to purchase these products would be online. You can buy them at any fitness retailer store as well, however, if you buy them online you can look for even more reviews and professional opinions on the products and see what company suits your criteria the most. I hope this helps!

A marvelous list of equipment. The tennis ball was really a surprise! But, the logic behind it explains it.
I have used epsom salt before when I had problems with my back and it really helped.
Recently I’ve been suggested to try using a back stretcher, so I’m really pleased you included one in your article, thank you!

    1. Aminah says:

Yes, it’s crazy how the simplest things offer so many benefits. I also love Epson salt, it so relaxing and relieves all my sore muscles. If you get a back stretcher let me know how you feel or if it helps. Thank you!

I would like to incorporate more training into my life, but as you have mentioned we need the rest in between. I don’t use equipment enough for my recovery, though am starting to incorporate some occasionally.

Have thought about the Theragun before but haven’t tried it out, always just gone for a deep tissue massage. The Theragun is pricey but can see the cost-effectiveness over the long run, and get a more concentrated massage.

Also have to say that I have the exact same foam roller you have as a picture.

It’s not necessary to use equipment to aid in recovery, but it’s certainly helpful. The theragun is pricy, but it’s a great investment in the long run as you said. I have one and its changed my life. I would always have sore achy muscles and I hated the way I constantly felt. Now after every single one of my workouts, I use it to loosen all my tight muscles which makes the recovery process much easier and faster. that’s great I love the Grid X foam roller!

I’m so happy I was able to come across your website! As someone who experiences muscle aches frequently, I really appreciated all the recommendations you provided. I’m quite familiar with epsom salt. After a long day of exercise or a tiring day in general, I love being able to come home and take a relaxing bath to soothe my muscles. However, now that I know all these other alternatives, I have the choice to pick and choose depending on what I need most. Thank you for the amazing advice!

It’s always so great to see a summary of what’s on the market for a specific use. Most of what you mention here I had never heard of! Since I wear my Oura ring I am aware of resting and relaxing being of more influence to my condition than the actual exercise. So your article came in the right time. Thanks!

  8. Sakeena says:

Oh my god! I cannot tell you how much I needed this. I’m always working out and my muscles never recite propels. I’ve purchased A few Recovery tools but they’ve never worked. I’ve heard wonders about their gun and after reading your description I’ll definitely look into it. Thank you!
